The Dangers Of Youth Obesity

Youth obesity, along with the health risk of overweight Americans, are two leading causes of death in America that are preventable. Over three hundred thousand deaths a year can be credited to junk food and an unhealthy lifestyles. Unfortunately this problem is still on the rise. Obesity is a degenerative disease that jeopardizes an individuals health. Although the effects of obesity are easily recognized, it's one of the most difficult medical problems to deal with.

People usually confuse the definition of obesity with simply being overweight. Putting on a few extra pounds is the true meaning of being overweight. But if a persons' total body weight is 10% more then what's recommended for his/her body structure and height, that's considered to be obese. This is also known as the BMI or body mass index. According to obesity statistics in America, over one hundred billion dollars a year is spent on the obesity epidemic. Making it's extremely important to treat the causes of obesity as early on as possible. Overweight kids between the ages of 10 and 13, have an 80% chance of experiencing adult obesity later on in life. That is unless parents help by making better choices involving their kids health.

Obesity research has uncovered a number of complicated causes including biological, genetic, cultural and behavioral factors. Ordinarily, a person becomes obese after continuously consuming more calories than their body burns. But there's a 50% chance of obesity in adults when one of their parents is obese. This obesity stat increases to 80% when both parents are extremely overweight. Then there's a small percentage of people who put on an excessive amount of fat due to health reasons or medical disorders. Finally, the dangers of youth obesity stem from overeating with little or no exercise, to depression and family problems.

Many problems can arise from these obesity health risk. Such as high blood pressure, sleeping disorders, breathing problems, and diabetes. All which lead to an increased probability of heart disease. Teenagers are also likely to experience emotional problems. Low self-esteem is a common result of being overweight. possibly leading to depression, anxiety, and obsessive compulsion disorder. Consulting a pediatrician is usually necessary to determine a child's nutritional level and causes of obesity. If there's nothing physically wrong, the doctor may provide a weight management program to reduce the child's calorie intake and increase activity level. Some information on childhood obesity facts are normally provided as well. This helps to answer any questions regarding the patients eating or emotional habits. In some cases, a psychiatrist may work with the pediatrician to help with any emotional problems that may have developed.

Which is why self motivation is extremely important while losing weight. It's just as crucial as having the constant support of a loved one. This makes losing weight a process that involves the entire family. If everyone started eating healthy and exercising regularly, the weight management program would easily be a success. Parents can play a major role by using encouragement to boost the self esteem of their children and cooking healthier meals. This helps provide the support and structure needed to make a sensible lifestyle change.

Making this change is a process like anything else. The point of the weight loss program is to teach the child some benefits of eating healthy, as well as the dangers of youth obesity. This is the only way he/she will maintain and keep the weight off once it's gone. In most cases, this is exactly where people tend to shift back to old habits. So reinforce some new ones with enough love and support to last for the long haul.

Weight Loss Plan

One of the main reasons people go on a diet or start a weight loss plan nowadays is to get in shape. While most of us would like to think it was strictly for better health, I'm sure the vast majority of us have more conceited reasons in mind. All of which are acceptable reasons for making the important lifestyle
changes that come along with dieting. In fact, this type of egotistical thinking proves to be a far greater motivator.

While sticking to a weight loss plan some individuals may constantly feel hungry or famished. An easy way to fight these hunger pains is to include some of these following steps into your weight loss program. First and foremost, you need to eat more high fiber foods. Whole grains, pears, apples, lima beans,
and cereal are great sources of fiber. Although filling, fiber has some unpleasant side effects when consumed in high quantities. So it's best to spread out your fiber intake throughout the day instead of all at once.

Water plays an important role in delivering nutrients to the body. H2O helps to adjust your metabolism, which is essential to healthy weight loss. Drinking water also helps to feel fuller while dieting if you consume enough. Additionally, water helps your skin retain it's elasticity once the serious weight loss begins.

Eating smaller sized portions is crucial to rapid weight loss. With the temptation of all the super sized meals and combos advertised today, this is easier said then done. Most people don't even know what an appropriate portion size looks like. Especially when restaurant meals are adequate enough to be two
whole servings. That's after you make it through the salads, soups, and appetizers! Which is why eating the right portions can help cut back your daily calorie intake. Leaving room for lower calorie foods, such as lettuce and vegetables, which are the best foods to eat to lose weight.

Drastic weight loss can also become problematic if your not careful. There are limitations on what the mind and body can handle. While dieting, drastic changes are being made to your body's daily calorie intake. This can lead to serious health risk if your calorie intake becomes extremely low. So it's important to cut calories in small increments and then make changes as you go along.

Dieting alone is only the first step to getting in shape. Exercise plays an equally important role. So for the best results you need to incorporate some type of extra physical activity. Anything from cleaning the house, to playing with the kids, even gardening on a regular basis can help to burn extra calories!  Try walking to the store instead of driving or put the little ones in the stroller for a walk to the park while your at it. Maybe even try yoga for weight loss!

Starting a weight loss plan doesn't have to be a major sacrifice on your part. But to be productive it will take a personal lifestyle change. Especially if you need to lose more then a few vanity pounds. The benefits of losing weight are well worth the effort it takes to put in, trust me. Stay confident and focused and soon you'll have that perfect body you once could only dream of.

Effects Of Alcohol While Training

One Friday evening after work you decide to go out for a few drinks with some friends to chill and relax.
Though it seems like a good idea, there's some thing you might want to consider first. Like your obligation to stay in shape and rid yourself of anything that may deter you from that.Or the effects of alcohol on the body.
You think because you've been exercising regularly that a few drinks won't do any harm, right? Well not so fast...there's a few things that you may want to consider first!

Research has proven alcohol consumption can increase short stints of increased muscular endurance, followed by negative side effects after a window of 20 minutes or so. Trust me the negative side effects far outweigh any possible benefits when it comes to the short term effects of alcohol. So think about whats most important and put that drink down...now! But on a serious note, alcohol can really do you bodily harm if your not careful. Intoxicants can reduce your muscle strength, endurance, aerobic capability, recovery time, ability to metabolize fat, and even alter your muscles ability to grow.

This is bad news for anyone focused on getting in shape. Now you see why this should raise some concerns. These are some serious health risk that we're talking about here! Worst case scenario, your nervous system along with parts of your brain become damaged. Severe deterioration can also take place as a result of long term abuse. While also causing short term damage, such as nerve and muscle interaction that effects muscle strength. I know what your thinking...more bad news, right? Well unfortunately, these are the facts!

If your going to drink you should be aware of the negative effects of alcohol and the potential harm it can cause. Because once it reaches your blood cells,it can and probably will damage them. Leading to a list of ailments such as inflammation of muscle cells and soreness.Which prolongs the time it takes for your body to recover from exercising just in case you were wondering.Which really sucks if your trying to those guns ready for the beach this summer. Not to mention the different effects that alcohol has on your heart and circulatory system. Like shortness of breath along with mild chest pains, and loss of body heatfrom the dilation of blood vessels. This loss of heat can cause your muscles to become slow, weak, and cold.
Effecting the way your muscles normally contract. The exact opposite of how you want your muscles to perform.

I mean really, isn't the whole point of exercising to get stronger and live a long healthy life? It was the last time I checked. And how are you supposed to do that with digestive and nutritional problems from alcohol use? Oh, you had no idea? Well alcohol causes a release of insulin that increases the metabolism of glycogen, which spares fat loss making it harder to lose weight. Due to alcoholic drinks interfering with the absorption of several important nutrients, you can also become anemic and vitamin B deficient.  Liver damage is also a common side effect of alcoholism. Since your liver is the organ that detoxifies your body,
it has to work overtime each time you drink.

Subsequently, alcohol is diuretic. Which in large amounts puts a lot of stress on your kidneys. During this time hormones are secreted leading to an unwanted increase in water retention. Making you feel heavy and bloated. Which I'm sure you don't want to experience if your trying to lose weight. So if you must drink alcohol, do so in moderation. But never before you exercise or operate a motor vehicle of course. As we all know this will impair your balance, coordination, and judgement. Think about your health and what you want to accomplish by exercising-and I'm sure you'll see things from a different perspective.
